Released in 1985, the film marked the studio's entry into the field of computer-generated images. It was also the first Disney cartoon to get a PG rating. 2. The film was inspired by the five-volume mythological fantasy "The Chronicles Of Prydain," by Lloyd Alexander. 3. The film marked the development of the APT (Animation Photo Transfer) process. The first major change in the studio's method of transferring artists' drawings to a cel since photocopying replaced hand-inking 20 years earlier. 4. The film was 12 years in the making ? 5 years in actual production -- at a cost of more than $25 million. 5. More than 1,165 different hues and colors were implemented and more than 34 miles of film stock were used. 6.

Elliot Grove is Founder and Director of the Raindance Film Festival - the largest independent film festival in Europe - and also founder of the British Independent Film Awards. He teaches professional scriptwriting and lo-to-no budget courses as well as the weekend master-class, Write the Hot Script' in London and overseas.
